Power-Ups, Obstacles & Scoring Mechanics
Mastering GemRush requires understanding how special arena items interact with your player orb and how progressive difficulty scales across levels:
🟢 Emerald Speed Boost
Temporarily doubles your movement velocity for 5 seconds, allowing you to sweep across wide arenas and beat tight level timers.
🟣 Amethyst Invincibility Shield
Grants temporary immunity against red hazard obstacles. While active, colliding with patrolling enemies will not deduct a life.
🔴 Dynamic Hazard Blocks
Red obstacles patrol horizontal and vertical corridors at speeds that increase with every level completed. Direct contact without a shield costs 1 Life.
Pro Strategy Tips for High Scores
1. Prioritize Corner Gems First: Corner areas have fewer escape routes when multiple red obstacles converge. Clear the perimeter early while you have full time on the clock, leaving center gems for the final seconds.
2. Chain Power-Ups Strategically: Do not grab the Purple Invincibility orb immediately if no hazards are nearby. Wait until obstacles cluster around your remaining gems, then trigger invincibility to cut straight through traffic.
3. Persistent High Score Tracking: Your personal best score is automatically saved in your browser's local storage so you can track your progression across sessions without creating an account.
